FG Barnes is a family-owned automotive group with a 126-year history, located in Guildford. Under the new leadership of CEO Rob Walford, the company has been focused on rebuilding the business and optimising core operations. They operate a multi-franchise site covering Vauxhall, Omoda and Jaecoo brands. The group has over 100 used cars in stock at any time.The Challenge
FG Barnes had a clear CSI challenge and their IT direction was out-dated, with a sub-par website. Rob’s previous role was at Vertu PLC who were streaks ahead digitally. They were using a popular incumbent offering in the AI communication space but were dissatisfied with the performance. When Rob joined the company, he reviewed the functionality and got frustrated. and turned that solution off. Responses were slow, unsuitable, stood the risk of annoying customers. So he took the decision to turn it off and look for something better.
The Solution
Taking on a new tech solution wasn’t considered lightly. Rob’s objective was to return the business to healthy profit, so he couldn’t afford to invest in tech that wasn’t going to benefit the business.
